Attendee Guide
Member Events are shared rooms. Come prepared. The host is not your tech support. If you are bringing a PC to a wired night, the Garage LAN guide has a longer BYO list for cables, power, labeling, and what not to plug in.
Before you go
- Read the poster for times, cost, rules, and what the host supports.
- Bring games you want to play. Most nights start as free play. Group games usually get picked once people are there.
- Confirm you can arrive and leave on time.
- Update games and Windows at home. Do not rely on venue Wi-Fi for patches.
- Message the host if you are bringing extra hardware, a guest, or a power-hungry rig.
What to bring
- Your PC or console and the display you plan to use.
- Power cables for every device. Do not assume spares are available.
- Keyboard, mouse, mousepad, and any adapters you need.
- Headphones. Leave speakers at home.
- A long Ethernet cable. Twenty-five feet (about 7 to 8 meters) is a common ask.
PC and console prep
- Label your tower, monitor, and power brick with your name.
- Know your login, launchers, and which games you want to play.
- For consoles, bring HDMI and power. Ask before you take over a TV.
- Download games before you arrive.
Audio, power, and comfort
- Use headphones, not speakers.
- Use one power strip only if the host allows it. Do not daisy-chain strips.
- For overnight events, bring sleep gear and keep aisles clear.
- Follow the host’s food and drink rules. Use closed containers near hardware.
Hosts running PC-heavy nights may also link guests to Garage LAN for peripherals, seating, and network details.
